Join us and make your voice heard!
Albertsons Companies and the Albertsons Companies Foundation are proud to announce the recipients of this year's hashtag#NourishingNeighbors Innovation Spark Grants. Three nonprofit organizations will be awarded a total of $9 million in multiyear grants to support innovative programs aimed at combatting food insecurity and fostering long-term solutions for hunger relief.
Alpenglow Impact has been turning donations into gift cards for neighbors in need through their Gift Card Bank program. Their efforts have reached nearly four million individuals, providing not just food but also a sense of stability during the most challenging times. With the Nourishing Neighbors grant, they're launching a pilot to empower low-income student mothers, guiding them from education to financial independence.
Hunger Free America, a long-time partner of the Albertsons Companies Foundation, is a national nonprofit working to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food. This Nourishing Neighbors grant will fund a project to enable at least 200 individuals in Maryland and Illinois who are unemployed, underemployed or employed in low-wage jobs to boost their long-term economic advancement by increasing their work skills and wages.
The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is making strides in combating food insecurity with solutions and community partnerships. By leveraging an innovative data mapping system, NTFB is pinpointing the needs within specific ZIP codes, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively. Through capacity building grants and additional supportive services, NTFB will equip partner agency programming that addresses underlying barriers to food security such as housing assistance, healthcare access and workforce development.
These organizations exemplify the power of innovative thinking and dedicated action in addressing the critical issue of hunger. Their work not only provides immediate relief but also fosters sustainable development and self-sufficiency.

Pablo Marquez-Garcia, a Puerto Rican American, US Army Veteran has a need for funds to send for FREE to every school age child a copy of his Novel,
Benito's Treasure Hunt. This new kids adventure novel gives the reader an adventurous reading of a Latin
boy's day out to the beach. He finds going to the beach can bring many fun, adventurous and enlightening
memories. This "G" rated Novel the first to use bilingual story telling approach comes with a Pronunciation
Table, a Map where the story was created and many parents also were very fond with the local contacts
provided. The Author needs to deliver Novels via the USPS and its not cheap, so be mindful of the packaging
costs and the timeframe to get this Novel to them by December 1, 2024. I can hear the kids saying,
"Thank you, for brightening my day!"
